    The bombing of Darwin
    The Bombing of Darwin occured on the 19th of Febuary 1942. Four Japanese air crafts bombed Darwin killing 253 people and wounding 400. There were two raids; the first one lasted 40 minutes and the secong lasting only 20 - 25 minutes.
  • The bombing of Broome

    The bombing of Broome
    The bombing of Broome took place on the 3rd of March 1942, when the Japanese fighters attacked without warning. Their attack lasted no more than 20 minutes though 25 Allied aircrafts were destroyed and dozens of people killed.
  • Sydney submarine atttack

    Sydney submarine atttack
    The Sydney submarine attack took place on the 31st of May 1942, when three Japanese submarines enetered from the sea aout 7 nautical miles off the Harbour. They launched a plan A midget submarine for an attack on the ships in the Harbour. They planned to sink the USS Chicago. A man on watch detected movement in one of the submarine nets and as a result the Japanese blew up the craft and themselves. The second one had to go back to its starting point and the third shot themselves to avoid capture
  • The bombardment of Newcastle

    The bombardment of Newcastle
    The bombardment of Newcastle took place on the 8th of June 1942, when a Japanese submarine was ordered to head into Newcastle and attack the shipyards. They shelled about 34 shells and the entire attack only lasted 20 minutes.
  • The Cowra breakout

    The Cowra breakout
    The Cowra breakout took place on the 4th of August 1944, when in earlt August the prisoners decided to plan a mass escape. The wounded planned to commit suicide to keep their pride prior to the escape. There was a bugle blast and all the huts were set alight, the prisoners hit the fence in four groups to escape. 330 people escaped that night and it took 90 days to recover them all.
