    Became emir of Afghanistand in 1880. He is a pashtun. Sardar started the initial religious persecution of the Hazara as well as lay the basis of their current life. As well as enacting several laws towards them including promoting slavery, land confiscation, death marches and the mass migration of the Hazara.

    The Hazara was forced to either abandoned their faith & customs or tie red turbans on their hand. Failure to adheed would result to jail time or the worst case scenerio, death.
  • Haraza forced to pray towards the Sunni Faith

    A law was made to force the Hazara to pray at Sunni altars, under the provision of the Pashtun government. The Shia altars was to be sold or dismantled.
  • Soviets invades Afghanistan

    the soviet union invades Afghanistand and usurp power. The hazara sided with the soviets at the time to liberate their homeland & live relatively independant lives. Pashtun power weakened= lesser perseution.
  • Soviets withdraw from the country

    After the soviets withdrew from Afghanistan, it put the Hazara in physical and politcal jeopedry against other political factions in Afghanistan. I

    There was several political faction fighting over control of the country. Sparking the afghan civil war from 1992-1996. By the end of the war; the Taliban seized countrol over Aftghanistan. However the Talibans are Pashtuns which marked thier rise back to power and further persecution of the Hazaras.
  • Maasacre of Hazara in Mazar-i-sharif 1998

    the Taliban massacred 8,000 Hazaras after seizing control of Maza-isharif. The initial reason for this siege was in response to an execution of taliban prisoners in 1997, as well as failling to capture the city a year prior. Mazar-i-shariff was a sacred burial grounds. the executions had desecrated the city.

    Civilians were caprutred and executed at robatak pass & executed. The executed civilans was primated of the shia faith (hazara).
  • The fall of the Taliban

    After the 9/11 attacks on the US, & the talibans refusal to turn Osama-bin-Laden over to the Americans. The US launched an invasion against the Taliban which lead to the Pashtun's losing power, military strength, allies (such as pakistan), & their political leaders. Although the taliban had descended from power, the Hazara still suffer from religious and political strifes. The Taliban still execute the Hazaras in the present.
  • Hazara Mass Displacement From Uruzgan

    Released Taliban prisoners had begun executing the Hazaras. The local government in the area is giving little resistance towards the atorcities. Hence the Hazaras are forced to migrate.
