    Shortly after moving in, Nick goes to have dinner at his cousin Daisy's house. He also sees Tom, who went to Yale with Nick. He also meets Jordan Baker. "Tom Buchanan in riding clothes was standing with his legs apart on the front porch. He had changed since his New Haven years."
  • Tom takes Nick to the Valley of Ashes

    Tom takes Nick to the Valley of Ashes
    Tom brings Nick to the Valley of Ashes where he meets Myrtle and George Wilson. They were husband and wife but Tom was having an affair with Myrtle.
    "She smiled slowly and, walking through her husband as if he were a ghost, shook hands with Tom, looking him flush in the eye."
  • Tom Punches Myrtle

    Tom Punches Myrtle
    Tom broke Myrtles nose for mentioning his wife's name. He broke Myrtle's nose. "Making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand."
  • Nick's Invitation

    Nick's Invitation
    Nick got an invitation to his neighbor's party. He was one of the few actually invited to one of Gatsby's extravagant parties. "I believe on the first night I went to Gatsby's house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited."

    After hearing all the rumor's about him floating around, Nick actually manages to meet Gatsby and sees what he looks like. "my eyes fell on Gatsby, standing alone in the marble steps and looking from one group to another with his approving eyes."
  • Gatsby reunites with Daisy

    Gatsby reunites with Daisy
    Gatsby meets Daisy again through Nick. They used to have a thing for each other but that's all in the past. Gatsby invites both Daisy and Nick to his house.
    "That huge place there?' she cried pointing.
    'Do you like it?'
    'I love it but I don't see how you live there all alone."
  • Daisy kills Myrtle

    Daisy kills Myrtle
    Daisy accidentally hit Myrtle with a car. Myrtle didn't survive and was killed. "Myrtle Wilson's body wrapped in a blanket, and then in another blanket, as if she suffered a chill in a hot night, lay on a work-table by the wall, and Tom, with his back to us, bending over it, motionless."
  • George kills Gatsby

    George kills Gatsby
    George believed that Gatsby was responsible for his wife's death. He then goes to Gatsby's house to kill him himself. George kills himself after what happened. "It was after we started with Gatsby toward the house that the gardener saw Wilson's body a little way off in the grass, and the holocaust was complete."

    Nick planned a funeral for Gatsby. non one showed up but the Owl-Eyed Man and Nick also met Gatsby's father. "I think it was on the third day that a telegram signed Henry C. Gatz arrived from a town in Minnesota."

    Nick Carraway arrives in West Egg
    Nick Carraway rents a small house in West Egg and attempts to learn about trade in New York. He happens to rent the house that's right next to Gatsby's mansion.
    "I lived in West Egg, the- well, the less fashionable of the two, though this is the most superficial tag to express the bizarre and not a little sinister contrast between them."
