The Yalta/Potsdam Conferences were created to decide what to do with soon to surrender Germany. Things like borders of post war Europe were also discussed. This conference also caused Tension to build between Russia and the U.S. because they disagreed on many matters discussed. -

The Truman Doctrine was a plan for the U.S. to give aid to Democratic countries that were being threatened by Soviet forces. -

The Berlin Airlift
The Berlin Airlift was a deliverance of food and necessities to Democratic West Berlin. The Soviet Union enclosed Berlin and cut off all entrances/exits. The people of West Berlin had no way to get food so the U.S. delivered it into West Berlin on planes. -
NATO
NATO was an alliance between democratic countries for protection. If one nation was attacked every other nation would help because it was viewed as an attack on all of them. -

North Korea vs. South Korea are fighting on the Korean peninsula. They are fighting because North Korea wants to recapture South Korea to unify the Korean Peninsula. -
Chinese Volunteers join the Korean War
South Korean and U.N. forces had almost pushed North Korea all the way back to the border of China. China, also being a communist country and being allied with North Korea, feared that they might face invasion if North Korea was conquered. So Chinese soldiers volunteered in the North Korean army and helped them push back the U.N and South Korean soldiers. -
Warsaw Pact
The Warsaw Pact was the communist's response to NATO. It was the same thing as NATO but for the communist countries. -

The Space Race was a technological battle between the Soviet Union and the U.S. to see who could get to space first. Or, put an object in space. -

The Berlin wall was constructed by Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. The wall's purpose was to separate Communist East Berlin from Democratic West Berlin. -

Operation-Storm 333 was an attack on heavily fortified Tajbeg Palace. Once the Soviet's stormed the palace they assassinated Afghan leader Hafizullah Amin. -
