Truman Doctrine
President Harry S. Truman declared it to be the foreign policy to help any country whose stability was threatened by communism. The United States would support Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid so they wouldn't fall into communism. Turkey received $100 million in economic and military aid, and Greece received $400 million. -
Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was an American program to help Europe.The U.S. gave money to help rebuild European economies so Communism wouldn't spread. It wad also offered to The Soviet Union and its allies, but they did not accept it. -

From January 30th to August 30th, 1968, a military campaign launched by the People's Army of Vietnam against South Vietnam, the U.S, and their allies. The VPA were using the element of surprise, striking military and civilian control centers when no attacks were supposed to happen. Their biggest goal, to start an uprising, was a failure.Confidence in the government was ruined, since the offensive showed that even with American support, the government couldn't protect the citizens. -
