    On September 11, 2001, President Bush addressed the nation following the attacks in New York and Washington DC. He addressed people on what happened earlier that day and the possible declaration of war.

    Search and Rescue/Cleanup at Ground Zero
    On the day of the attack, search and rescue teams immediately were at the site. 12 people were found in the rubble including six firefighters, three police officers, one woman, and two PAPD officers. In total it took 9 months to clean up 1.8 million tons of wreckage.

    On September 15th, 2001, President Bush declared War on Terror AKA The Global War on Terrorism. The war was focused on countries associated with al-Qaeda. The president wants the main focus of the war to be on Afghanistan.

    On October 7th, 2001, the war in Afghanistan officially began. About 1,300 soldiers were deployed in 2001, and to this day, about 2.7 million troops have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately about 6,251 U.S. troops have died since 2001. The war is on a decline and the terror has diminished. We have ended al queda and Isis.

    USA PATRIOT ACT
    The USA PATRIOT ACT is an acronym which stands for "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism". Congress moved fast to pass this act to strengthen security controls on October 23rd, 2001. It was passed the next day by a vote of 357-66.

    On November 25, 2002, the Homeland Security Act was passed. The purpose of the Homeland Security Act is to prevent terror attacks within the United States.

    The war started on Thursday, March 20th, 2003. This war was an armed and heated conflict that started in the country of Iraq where U.S. troops overthrew the government of Saddam Hussein. U.S. forces stayed in Iraq until they were pulled out on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

    The Hunt for bin Laden
    To end the war of terror bin Laden would have to be killed in order to win. In 1999, bin Laden was on the FBI's most wanted list and was hiding and constantly moving from place to place until he was found during a 40 minute raid when bin Laden was shot twice, once above the left eye and the other to the chest which were fatal injuries. bin Laden's boy was extracted and buried at sea on May 2,2011.
