    In 1943 Georgia was the first state to make the voting age 18 not 21.

    In 1945 the long debate started on what the voting age should be and carried into 1970 when 18 year old's where being forced to go and serve their country in the Vietnam war but couldn't vote. The debate was wether or not the voting age should be 18 or 21.

  • Oregon vs. Mitchel

    in 1970 the case Oregon vs. Mitchel a divided Supreme court decied that congress has the right to regulate the voteing age at the national level not at the state and local.

  • The amendment is passed

    In 1971 the 26th amendment was finnally passed
