The Russian Empire was known as an empare that was from Poland all the way to the Paciffic Ocean. It had a lot of power and it had a powerful leader to go along with that. -
The Russian Citizens were getting tired of the government and rose up against the leader of the Empire. The citizen fought a long and tiring battle and won the revolution. THeir new form of government was known as Communism where supposedly everyone was equal. Equal pay, equal living costs, equal costs of everything. -
The russian civil war started when a group called the whites (no this isnt racist) got tired of communism and rose up against the reds (the people who still wanted communism that includes the leader, Vladamir Lenin.) and they went into a civil war. Vladimar, with the army, of course helped the reds win an easy victory. -
War stared when Germany got power hungry and invited a few friends to help invade the world. Now, orginally, the soviet union was part of the bad side but really wasnt since it was just a mutual agreement that the axis (bad side) wouldnt attack them if they didnt attack them first. Turns out that Hitler, the leader of germany, had his fingers crossed and invaded. The soviet union, being able to handle their winters better, evedentually won that scuffle. The allies came in and it was all over. -
This started immideatly after WW2. The SU's (soviet union)leader, Stalin, wasn't really okay in the head so the US threatened them with an A bomb but turns out, he already knew. Now, it was called a cold war because there was no gun fighting, just threats and competition. Then, the SU made an A bomb of their own and now things were HEATED. This war lasted for so long with many events happening between. -
The iron curatin was this idea of the US boarding Communism from the SU from spreading everywhere. It was known to be in mid Europe splitting germany into west and East. -
The Red scare was this period of time in the US where everyone was afraid of comunism. People were afraid of everyone, even their closest friends and family. They would call the FBI on them if they did anything slightly suspicious. -
The Vietnam started when the North part of it was communisnt but the US didn't want that so they paid the south part a bunch of money to go and take them out. Unfortunetly for the US, they failed so they sent in many troops. After a long battle, the US still really didn't win so it was a defeat for them. -
The space race started when the USSR launched a satalite named Sputnik that terrified the US. In return, the US launched satalies of their own that they were devoloping. After that, it was just back and forth. The USSR sent a bunch of animals, the US sent someone out of the Earths atmosphere. Eventually, it ended when the US put someone out on the moon. -
The cuban missile crisis started when the current leader of the USSR went over to cuba, which was around 200 miles off the coast of the US, and allied with them. They put a bunch of missile stations in there which terrified the US citizens since it was close than Canada was to Oregon. Eventually, the current president, JFK, negotieated with the leader of the USSR and got the missles out of there. -
The fall of the USSR started back a while ago since they spent so much of their money on their miliatry and not on technology or luxury goods. This meant that they were severeally lacking in the technilogical section. The last known leader of the USSR was Gorbachev and he promised to save it from collapse but even he couldn't to it. After a coup, he resigned. after he did, many parts of the USSR disbanded to become independent nations. Overall it collpased because of coups and free elections.
