Russian citizens rose up against the leader of the Russian Empire. The citizens of Russia won the revolution. As a new form of government the citizens chose a dictator and Communist government led by Vladamir Lenin. -
Two groups the Reds (Communist) and Whites (Capitalists) started a Civil War in Russia. Vladamir Lenin and the Reds won the Civil War. After the war, Lenin gave a speech outlining that people cannot disagree with the leader and the dictator has complete control. Lenin was assassinated by a White group member, and Joseph Stalin took over. -
WWII was a time when Nazi Germany was trying to take over the world. U.S.A. and Soviet Russia teamed up to take them down. During the war Nazi Germany was trying to invade Russia but they were not prepared for the cold winters of Russia. Nazi Germany ended up falling and losing the war. -
The start of the Cold War was right after WWII. Soviet Russia and the US were in a Cold War meaning that there is no gunfire, just threats. This all started when WWII ended and Soviet Russia and the US were no longer allies. They kept threatening each other with bombs, nukes, missiles and more. No nuke or missile was launched but it was a very scary time for the US. -
The iron curtain started at the end of WWII until the end of the Cold War. The iron curtain was something that Soviet Russia had so no one could get in Russia or leave Russia. The iron curtain was forced into Europe. No one could get in Russia from Europe at all. -
The Red Scare started in the Cold War. Russians started to send spies over to the U.S.A. to obviously spy on the U.S. Everyone was scared and started to accuse everyone else, including their own family. When people were reported as communists from Russia. -
The Vietnam War was a war between North and South Vietnam. North Vietnam wanted communism but South Vietnam wanted a republic. A lot of people died in this war that were innocent because they lived in the opposite territory. The US did end up winning along with South Vietnam and Vietnam was a republic country. -
The space race was a time when Russia and the US were trying to be the first country that went to space. Russia had the first living creature in space. The US had the first person in space. Russia's next stop was the first people on the moon. The US beat Russia to the moon after the Russians space ship crashed on the moon which gave the US a great opportunity to be the first one to land on the moon. -
The Cuban missile crisis could have started WWIII or another war. During this time the Soviet Union gave Cuba a lot of missiles to protect them self from the U.S.A. The U.S. then put Navy around the entire island of Cuba. It worked poorly and then the U.S. made an agreement to take missiles out of Turkey for the Soviet Union to take missiles out of Cuba. -
The fall of the soviet Union was caused by their own government. Basically their own government started to change to a democracy and then there weren't many communists. Democracy let people vote a lot and ended in not a super bad government. Therefore the Soviet Union fell from their own government.
