Originally named the Resettlement Administration (RA) in 1935 the Farm Security Administration (FSA) was established in 1937 to combat the American rural poverty during the Great Depression.

Awarded Guggenheim Fellowship for excellence in photography that she later gave up to record the evacuation of Japanese Americans to relocation camps for the WRA (War Relocation Camps).

FSA was closed in 1944 and during it's years of working, had helped 11 photographers and their pictures become famous by photographing pictures of the Great Depression.
