John Wilson's condition has been worsening. The doctor diagnosed John with TB. John Wilson was relieved of RNWMP duty and quarantined to a small tent. During his illness John Wilson spent much time with the Pattersons, during the winter they had even taken him in and looked after him.

Polly informs her family of her intention to travel to Canada to find John. It has been six and a half years since he left for Canada. Polly is unsure whether he is alive or if he even wishes to see her. She is determined to go and get her answers.

Polly who is now in Regina, contacts the RNWMP headquarters. Polly asks Constable Brickton the wherabouts of John Wilson, he redirects her to the Prince Albert detachment. John Wilson was in the Prince Albert headquarters reapplying for service when Polly phoned. Polly and John were able to speak on the phone.

Polly comes across a letter that brings to light Jessie and Johns relationship. In the letter Jessie speaks of marriage.

After getting Polly to come to Saskatoon he met her and they started the drive to Blaine Lake. John Wilson had a shotgun with him, claiming he would be hunting geese. John was drinking a notably significant amount during the drive. After stopping John covered Polly's seat with a car cover and dawned his coat. Polly Wilson was murdered by her husband moments later.
