The soldier,Private Shimura returned to his unit, but the Japanese were already surrounding Wanping.

After the Japanese were defeated during the Taierzhuang Battle the Imperial Japanese Army sent all of its troops to take Wuhan and negotiate with the Kuomintang government. On October 27, Wuhan was captured. Chaing Kai-shek refused to negotiate.
  • Battle of Suixian-Zaoyang

    Battle of Suixian-Zaoyang
    One of the major battles between the National Revolutionary Army and the Imperial Japanese Army. To secure their gain after the battle of Wuhan the IJA launched two attacks on Suizhou and Zaoyang. Both cities fell and the NRA had to retreat. However, after 3 days the NRA attacked the IJA from the rear and began to retreat. Both cities were retaken. This battle ended in Chinese victory.

    The Japanese wanted the Chinese to surrender The Imperial Japanese Army moved directly down to the relocated Chinese Capital, Chongqing. To achieve that they needed to take Yichang first. the Japanese succeeded.

    The communist regulars kept growing in strength and numbers. Zhu De ordered" a coordinated offensive" against the cities the Japanese held and their railways. Many bridges, tunnels and railways were blown up, resulting in a great victory for China.
