Posse stops Southern Railroad train in Paint Rock, Alabama.
Scottsboro boys are arrested on charges of assault. Rape charges
are added against all nine boys after accusations are made by
Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. -
The scottsboro boys get convicted
Grand jury indicts the nine Scottsboro boys for rape. The nine teenahers are charged with rape and will be put in jail for something they did not do -
Life in prison
Clarence Norris, Charlie Weems, Haywood Patterson, Olen
Montgomery, Ozie Powell, Willie Roberson, Eugene Williams,
and Andy Wright are tried and convicted, and sentenced to
death. The option for life imprisoment was overturned by the jury they now where given the death penalty -

Executions are stayed pending appeal to Alabama Supreme
Court. the alabama supreme court is deciding if the nine teenagers will get life in in prison or the death penalty -
Juvenille
Williams is reversed on the grounds that he was a juvenile under
state law in 1931. He is under the age of 18 so he can not be sentenced to death under the alabama state law -
Opening the case
The U. S. Supreme Court announces that it will review the
Scottsboro cases. After waiting over a year the court finally decides to look at the scottsbobro boys rape case -

Samuel L. Leibowitz a new york lawyer is chosen by the ILD to represent/defend the scottsboro boys. -
Electric chair
Haywood Patterson found guilty by jury and sentenced to death
in the electric chair. -
Racist Tension
Due to racist tension Judge Horton has to postpone the trials of the of the othe eight scottsboro boys. -
Convicted for the Fourth Time
Haywood Patterson has been convicted for rape for the fourth time. He was sentenced to 75 years in prison. -

Conviction of Haywood Patterson was upheld by the Alabama supreme court -

In December of 1950 Haywood Patterson was involved in a barroom fight which lead to the death of other man. Patterson is convicted with man slaughter but soon after that he dies of cancer. -
The last Dies
On January 23, 1989 Mr. Clarence Norris. The last survivng scottsboro boy dies at the age 76.
