    In order to support a Soviet-backed government in Afghanistan, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. In response to that Ronald Reagan sent $570 million dollars worht of military aid.

  • Lowering Oil Prices

    Ronald Reagan thought that the price controls on oil was unecessary, so he worked to eliminate the price ontrols on oil in order to lower oil prices.

  • Reagonomics and Tax Rate Cuts

    Reaganomics was Ronald Reagan's approach to fixing the economy. It is a combination of supply-side economics and monetarism. This led to Congress passing a 25 % tax rate cut in July of 1981.

  • First Woman on the Supreme Court

    Sandra Day O' Connor was appointed by Ronald Reagan onto the Supremem Court. She was the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

    The START treaty worked towards the effort of decreasing the amount of missles on the United Staes and Soviet Union's side. During Reagan's administration, unfortunately the treaty was not passed. However in 1991 it was eventually passed.

    In1983, Marrxists overthrew the left-winged government of Grenada, so Ronald Reagan sent American troops to help. The troops quickly defeated the Cuban and Grenadian soldiers, and a new anticommunists government was implemented.

  • Cutting Social Programs

    To balance the budget deficit, Ronald Reagan suggested to stop funding some social programs. Many of the cuts that Reagan proposed were passed by Congress.

  • Soviet Union Troops Withdraw

    Ronald Reagan increased the help to Afghan guerrillas called contras. This caused Soviet Union troops to start withdrawing from Afghanistan.

  • Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty

    Ronald Reagan assisted in bringing the Cold War to and end with a treaty known as the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. Both Reagan and Soviet Union leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, signed this. The was the first treaty to call for the destruction of nuclear weapons.
