    Proclamation of 1763
    This event happened at the end of the French and Indian War. The British issued a proclamation to close colonists further exploration westward. This angered the colonists very much. They thought that they should have the right to explore any land beyond the Applachians.

    The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occured between colonists and the british soldiers. The colonists started throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks. The soldiers shot at them saying it was "self-defense" killing several colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Took place in Massachusetts. Colonists resisted against British Rule by dumping their tea into the Boston Harbor. The colonists were angered by the Tea Act made by the Parliament. So, they decided to show their rebellion by throwing all of the crates of tea over board.

    The start and beginning of the Revolutionary War. It was a very small fight to the point it was barely a battle. There is a famous quote from this battle called, "The shot heard around the world." The British soldiers were called the "regulars."

    Fort Ticonderoga was a key point of access of both Canada and Hudson River Valley. It was the first American victory.

    After the battles of Lexington and Concord New England reached a new high. Many northern colonies started converging to Boston. The battle of Dorchester Heights was won without firing a single shot.

    Early battle in the Revolutionay War. The battle is named after the adjacent Bunker Hill. The result of the battle was a British victory, leaving very many American soldiers wounded and dead.

    A last attempt at peace between Congress and the King. It was an effort to avoid war between the colonists and the British. The petition was sent to King George III describing the wrong and unreasonable punishments against the colonists.

    The publishing of "Common Sense" challenged the authority of the British government. Explained the unjust laws that the Parliament has made against the Colonists, and was a major infulence to be an independent nation. Also, was a best-seller at the time in both the colonies and in Europe.

    The start of America's independence. The United States Declaration of Independence was a second act of Continental Congress. It was adopted July, 4th 1776; the holiday where our country celebrates our independence.

    George Washington directed his army across Delaware River north of Trenton on Christmas in 1776. A great victory for American Colonists.

    This battle occured in Princeton, New Jersey. The two commanders were George Washington and Charles Mawhood. Thousands of Americans fought against British soldiers, the Americans out thinkng the British winning this battle.

    This battle was fought for eighteen days in the fall of 1777. The battles of Saratoga were turning points of the Revolutionary War. A great American victory for the colonists.
  • Valley Forge

    George Washington took his troops to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania during the winter of 1777-78. Estimated about 2,500 men died from lack of clothing, disease, not enough supplies, and more.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This battle occured in Virginia 1781. The Americans and French fighting against the British. The Americans and the French army much larger than the British by a couple thousand. This led them to their further victory. (Americans- 8,800, French- 7.800, British- 6,000)

    The Treaty of Paris was one of the series of treaties. The Treaty of Paris established independence for the United States and ending hostilities between the two.
