    The Civil War ended at Appomattox courthouse ,Virginia. General Lee surrendered. All soldiers started the long walk home.

    Georgia was the last state to be readmitted to the union. It done it twice. The first time in 1868 the legislator did not support the 15th amendment and stayed under military control until they wrer readmitted in 1870.
