Laws that helped control the newly freed African Ameracans.Some codes were unfair to them, some said that African Americans were not aloud to own farms or even rent them.A lot of these laws made it easy for whites to take advantage of African Americans.These codes also were allowing officals to arrest African Americans because they were did not have jobs.But yet life under the black code was still better than slavery. -
Civil Rights Act
The Civil Rights Act was another amendment to the constitution.Thats why congress worried that the courts might over turn it.We already know the 13th amendment but the 14th will start helping that.Now citizenship was not to be taken away when passing another law.This made it clear that if the state barred any adult male citizen from voting then the state could lose some representation in congress.Also no state was allowed to take a mans life, liberty, or property. -

The 14th Amendment was a Amendment that followed the 13th amendment and stated that every person had protection of the law.It also stated that no state could take a persons life and things -
15 Amendment
This is when the south had rejoined the north by time it was the presidential election in 1868. -
Reconstruction Acts
The reconstruction acts were acts that the South had to do if they wanted tol join back together with the North.This means that the Southern states had to make or form newer and better governments.
