Plankalkul

1948

Plankalkul was designed for engineering purposes by Konrad Zuse. High-level programming language to be designed for a computer. Plankalkul means "formal system for planning".

Fortran

Fortran is a programming language best suited for scientific computing. Fortran was developed by John Backus and IBM. Fortran is the basis of many of the other languages that have been created since its release.

Math-Matic

1957

Math-Matic was written by a team by Charles Katz with the direction of Grace Hopper. Math-Matic was similar to Univacs contemporaneous business-oriented language.

Lisp

1958

Lisp is the second oldest high-level programming language. Many dialects have existed over its history. Lisp was originally created as a practical mathematical notation for computer programs. Lisp was created by John McCarthy.

COBOL

1959

COBOL means "common business-oriented language". COBOL is object-oriented and procedural since 2002. COBOL was created by CODASYL(Committee on Data Systems Languages) and the work of Grace Hopper.

RPG

1959

RPG is a high-level programming language for business applications. IBM owns RPG as an proprietary programming language. IBM created RPG as the Report Program Generator- a tool to replicate punched card processing on the IBM 1401

BASIC

BASIC was created for the ease of use. BASIC is a high-level language developed by John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz to help students use coding.

LOGO

1967

Logo is an educational programming language. Logo derived from Greek word logos which means word or thought. Logo is a general-purpose language that is widely known for its turtle graphics. Logo was designed by Wally Feurzeig, Seymour Papert, Cynthia Solomon.

B

1969

B was developed by Ken Thompson with Dennis Ritchie and was derived from BCPL but compressed to fit on the microcomputers of their time. B was designed for machine-independent applications such as language software.

Pascal

1970

Pascal was developed on the pattern of the ALGOL 60 language. Pascal was designed by Niklaus Wirth. Pascal is an imperative and procedural programming language designed as a small, efficient language intended to encourage good programming practices. Pascal is named after the French mathematician Blaise Pascal.

C

1972

C was developed by Dennis Ritchie at Bell Labs. C supports structured programming, recursion, and lexical variable scope. C is used for constructs that map efficiently to typical machine instructions.

ML

1973

ML (Meta Language) is a general-purpose functional programming language. ML was designed Robin Milner and others at the University of Edinburgh. ML is known for its use of the polymorphic Hindley-Milner type system.

SQL

1974

SQL(Structured Query Language) is a domain-specific language used in programming and designed for managing data held in a relational database management system. SQL was designed by Donald D. Chamberlin and Raymond F. Boyce.

ADA

Feb 1, 1980

ADA is a high-level programming language that was created by Jean Ichbiah under contract from the United States defense department. ADA is extended from Pascal and is named after Ada Lovelace, who is known as the first computer programmer.

C++

1984

C++ is a general purpose programming language invented by Bjarne Stroustrup. Modern days C++ is used for object oriented features to facilities for low level memory.

Python

1990

Pytnon is an interpreted, high-level, general-purpose programming language. Python was created by Guido van Rossum and was designed to have increased readability with its notable use of significant whitespace.

Visual Basic

1991

Visual Basic is a third-generation event-driven programming language from Microsoft. Visual Basic was intended to be relatively easy learn and use. Visual Basic was derived from BASIC.

Delphi

1995

Delphi is an integrated development environment for rapid application development of desktop, web. mobile, and console software. Delphi use their own version of Pascal dialect. Delphi was developed by Borland computer company.

PHP

1995

PHP: (Hypertext Preprocessor) is a general-purpose programming language designed for web development. PHP was originally created Rasmus Lerdorf. PHP originally stood for (Personal Home Page).

Java

Java was designed by James Gosling. Java is a object-oriented language that is also one of the most popular programming languages in use. Java is primarily used in client-server web applications with a reported 9 million developers.

Javascript

Javascript was designed by Brendan Eich. Javascript is a high-level scripting language that conforms to the ECMAScript specification. Javascript is one of the core technologies of the world wide web.
