    Prince Sultan Bin Salman was born in Riyadh on 27 June 1956. He is the third son of King Salman. His mother is Sultana bint Turki Al Sudairi who died in July 2011. Prince Sultan is a full brother of Fahd, Ahmed, Abdulaziz, Faisal and Hussa. His Royal Highness is married and has three children.

    He is an avid pilot with more than 7000 fligh​t hours since 1976, and holds an Airline transport pilot certificate from the USA, Saudi Arabia, and France, with qualifications to fly several types of Jets and Helicopters and gliders, as well as being qualified as desert and mountain pilot.

    In June 17th 1985, Prince Sultan was chosen to represent Arab Sat - the Arab w​orld’s satellite agency, to be among the crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery as Payload Specialist on its Mission STS 51G. He was the first Arab, the first Muslim, and the first member of royalty in space. Saudi astronaut Prince Sultan bin Salman covered a distance of about 3 million miles in 7 days, I hour, 38 minutes and 52 seconds.

    Prince Sultan completed his elementary and secondary education in Riyadh. He is a graduate of the University of Denver with a degree in mass communications. He earned a Master's Degr​ee in Social and Political Science at Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, USA in​ 1999.
