    The U.S and Soviet Union had fought together as allies, but the U.S were cautious of thier communism goverment. The Soviets didnt like the Americans’, because of their refusal to treat the USSR as a legitimate part of the international community, and the U.S's delayed entry into World War II, which had resulted in millions of Russian deaths. This had created an enmity between the two. They threatened eachother with nuclear weapons.

    Japan took over Korea in 1910 and ruled it until August 1945. When WWII ended, Japanese troops north of the 38th parallel surrendered to the Soviets, and Japanese soldiers south of the 38th surrendered to the Americans. The South and North then started a war with eachother.

    After Cuban General batista was overthrown by Fidel Castro many cuban's fled. In 1961 the cubans were trained by Americans and ready to invade Cuba and gain Cuba back from Castro. Unfortunetly the Invasion failed, because they were out numbered by Castro's troops.

    The U.S and Soviet union had gone into a 13 day standoff during the time of this crisis fighting over installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles on Cuba, just 90 miles from U.S. shores. Kennedy had decided to put a blockade around cuba to ensure the soviets knowledge of the U.S's power.War was avoided when Kennedy agreed to Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev's offer to remove the Cuban missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba.
