Les Miserable
in 1982 "Les Miserable" became a musical, which is from a novel by Victor Hugo's that he published in 1862. The theme that this musical has is justice which is based on a convict Jean Valjean who spend 15+ years behind bars just trying to survive and provide for his family by doing wrong with stealing. Hoping for a new life he tries to save the life of a girl who becomes his adoptive daughter. -
The Phantom of The Opera
In 1986 The Phantom of The Opera opened up and became one of the most popular musicals of the 1980's and is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals. This musical won the Olivier Award and Tony Award in 1986 it also considered the longest running musical to show in Broadway currently.The musical based on love, jealousy and being groomed by someone older. -
Beauty and The Beast
Beauty and The Beast was an Walt Disney World Academy Award Winning musical film from 1991 which then ran on Broadway for 13 years and had 5000+ performances lasted from 1994-2007. This musical is based off loving beyond looks and he was also a very conceded Prince who turned to a beast. The Prince imprisoned a beautiful young lady and had to learn to love not for looks or wealth to transition back from a beast to a prince. -
Rent
In January 25, 1996 Rent has its first showing in Broadway. The musical is based off of the struggle younger people has in the upcoming Lower Manhattan where they struggled with drug and HIV/AIDS. The showed how the young artist tried to make it in a city that never sleeps. The musical captured the eye of so many that they needed a bigger theater to put on the show. Rent won many awards and showed for 12 years and ended in 2007. -
The Lion King
The Lion King is a musical that is based on a Disney movie that came on in 1994. The musical hit Broadway in 1997 and is still shown all over the world to this day. The musical is based on family drama and becoming king. There is a lot about adulthood, family, what is right and what is wrong in this musical and will have you sitting on the edge of your set through it all. -
Moulin Rouge
Moulin Rouge is a jukebox musical romantic film. It won 2 awards Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. The film was written by Baz Luhrmann and is based on a english poet who then falls in love with a cabaret actresses. -
Topdog/Underdog
Topdog/underdog is a american play that was published in 1999 but brought to Broadway in July of 2001. The play is based off of two brother's living in poverty, racism, women and a troubled pass. Play writer Suzan-Lori Parks won Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Outer Critics Circle Award. -
Blackbird
Blackbird is a play that was written by David Harrower. The play is based on a man name Toby who becomes a sex offender for his interaction with a young girl around 11 years old and is sentence in Scotland for the crime he committed. After serving his time in Scotland he was sent back to the United Stated to serve the rest of his time. This play won multiple awards one being Best New Play in Scotland. -
The Greatest Showman
The Greatest Showman is a musical that is based off a man who can see the talent and ambition pass the looks of "freaks". The musical has drama, romance and sandal while adding a circus feel. The musical was written by Bill Condon and Jenny Bicks with winning the AARP Movies for Grownups Award and Billboard Music Award. -
Fairview
Fairview is a play based off adolescent within teens and family drama. This play was shown in Los Angelas in February 2020 and won Pulitzer Prize. The family quickly learned they are being watched by four white people and as a middle class black family this made them very uncomfortable. This play will have you wanting to argue and question others by the end.
