    Birth
    Popper was born in Vienna, Austria. His parents were Simon Popper and Jenny Schiff. His father was a successful lawyer and taught Karl topics of philosophy from a very young age. His mother was an amateur pianist and taught Karl the love of music. Karl was the youngest of his three siblings and grew up in highly cultured environment, the Popper family had their own library and piano.
  • Inspired by Einstein

    By this time Popper was the age of 17 and began learning about Albert Einstein's work. Popper was impressed that Einstein was willing to "discard" his theory if it failed. A quote by Einstein was "If the redshift of spectral lines due to the gravitational potential should not exist, then the general theory of relativity will be untenable." This was a big influence on Popper's work later in life, that would then go on to be Popper's biggest and greatest work.

    The Logic of Scientific Discovery
    Popper published this ground breaking book first in 1934 that was then republished in English in 1959. Popper published this book when he was woking as a high school teacher. This book was based on the issue that he had become interested in when he began learning about Einstein's work. Demarcation- this is what Popper said separated science from pseudoscience. This is when Poppers Theory of Falsification was introduced to society. (theory continued on republication date)

    Sir Karl Popper served as the president of the Aristotelian Society from 1958 to 1959
  • Republication of The Logic of Scientific Discovery in English

    Popper exposed the flaws in the foundations of science. Popper explained that scientific theories could never actually be tested, Popper then explained that scientific theories need to be tested by falsification rather than verification. This changed science as we know it and really got the "heads spinning" of both philosophers and scientist of Poppers time.

    Karl Popper becomes "Sir Karl Popper". Poppers work was so influential that it he was recognized by the Queen.

    Popper died at the age of 92 in Croydon, UK.
    He was cremated and then buried in Lainzer cemetery, where his wife already was buried.
