The Expedition Begins
this is important becasue it is the start of their journey. -

This is signifigant because sgt. charles floyd was the was the only death throughout the entire msission. he died from a probable appendix burst. -
Confrontation with Teton
Teton Sioux demanded one of the expedition's boats as a toll to travel upriver. Chief Black Buffalo resolves situation before any fighting occurs. The expedition remained with the tribe for three more days. This is significant because the expeditionists interacted with native people for the first time. -
Fort Mandana completed
The expedition moves into to the recently completed fort Mandana for the winter. This is significant because all of the people needed shelter to survive the harsh winter. -
Lewis and Clark send men back down the river.
Lewis and Clark send the keelboat and approximatley a dozen men back down the river, with maps, reports, indian artifacts, and other scientific specimen for Jefferson. This helped the scientists and people in Washington experience the things that the expedition are encountering, it lead to many discoveries and sparked many peoples interests. -
New Wild Life
on this day lewis and a group of hunters encounter a Grizzly bear, this is important becuase it is a new animal that they discovered for science. -
A new Obstacle
while scouting Lewis came across the great Falls of the Missouri. This is Signifigant becuase it delays theeir journey one month becuase they must go around it. -
More Mountains
The shipment of specimens and research is sent back to Jefferson. And they find more mountains that they must cross. this is signifigant becuase it means they will take longer to get to the pacific. -
Crossing the columbia river
lewis and clarks expedition was to go across the columia river to move foward. the expedition could have ended there if they did not cross the river -
Luck is on there side
lewis and clark finaly get moving again with a strong current going upriver, meeting traders amoung the way. this is signifigant because it gave them momentum and hope. -
The Journey ends
lewis and clark have met the sea and know they have acomplished there goal there journey had come to a end. this is important beacuse know they can make the trip home. -
Explorers have returned home
lewis and clark return to be heros and make double there pay with 320acres of land as a bonus. this is signifigent because it is the end of there great jorney
