Othello travels to Venice to begin his schooling.

Iago joins the army

Iago is enlisted into an army at the age of 17.

Othello joins the army

Oct 19, 1534

Othello moves to Venice to join the army at the age of 16.

Iago and Emilia marry

Apr 8, 1535

After knowing each other for about a year, Iago and Emilia marry outside of Venice.

Othello becomes a lieutenant

Othello becomes a general

Othello is made a general by the Duke of Venice.

Othello and Iago meet

Iago and Othello are introduced to each other and eventually become good friends.

Othello meets Cassio

Othello is introduced to Cassio and really likes him. He soon begins to consider appointing him as his lieutenant.

Othello appoints Cassio as his lieutenant

Othello makes Michael Cassio his lieutenant after only a couple short months of knowing him. Iago becomes very upset because he has been friends with Othello for years and he wasn't chosen to be his lieutenant.

Othello meets Desdemona

Othello is introduced to Desdemona who he will eventually marry. They are introduced, ironicallly, through Iago and Emilia. Emilia works for Desdemona

Iago starts his evil plans

Jul 19, 1549

Still fuming about Cassio getting the job he wanted, Iago starts forming vague plans of revenge that revolve around Othello and Desdemona.

Othello and Desdemona marry

Jun 4, 1550

Othello and Desdemona secretly marry without Desdemona's father's permission.

Othello (and company) go to Cyprus

Jul 15, 1550

Othello and the other characters go to Cyprus and Othello's ship is caught ina storm. The ship makes it safely to shore. This is also about the time that Othello gained a victory over the Turks.

Iago tricks Cassio

Aug 13, 1550

Iago tricks Cassio into drinking while on watch. Othello finds out and fires Cassio. This is when Iago really gets his "evil plans" rolling.

Othello dies

Sep 6, 1550

Othello kills Desdemona because he is convinced by Iago that she is having an affair with Cassio. After he kills her, he finds out that she was innocent all along. He feels so guilty that he kills himself. This is also the day that Iago kills Emilia, his wife, and Roderigo, his "side kick."

Iagos flees Cyprus

Sep 7, 1550

Iago leaves Cyprus because people are extremely angry and start trying to hunt him down for what he has done. He flees to Turkey, the closest country.

Iago dies

Dec 30, 1552

After about two years, Iago is hunted down and killed for revenge by the friends and family of Othello and Desdemona.
