Mawii's father was born. Shortly after, Halieab's father passed away. His mother fell ill.

At the age of 9, Halieab was placed in care of an abusive family member due to his mother's illness.

At a young age, Halieb was the best 'healer" around. He had his own general store and clinic. He was unsupervised and mad some bad choices, but it is a testimony that God began to unfold.

The family leaves their home in search of refuge camp

They crossed the Sudanese border and arrived at a city called Awad. This is where they came to the refuge camp.

"So it was that my father started talking about a paradise called Amerikha".

After a long journey the family arrives in America

After living two weeks in a two room hotel, they finaly find a family to sponser them and place them in a home.

Their Father had told them the importance of an education in Amerca.

After coming to America, they begin to celbrate things in American culture.

The kids celebrate what was called Hoyo Hoyo which in America we know it as Halloween

With words of encouragement and a lot of hard work, Mawi joins the track team which leads to his future achievments in life. This becomes on of the most important desicions he made.

Developing of heart. Tewold sets an example for his brother and begins to help the homeless man get on his feet.

The boys decided to steel a parking meter. Their fear of getting caught and of their father, allowed the situation to teach them a valuable lesson

They begin their lesson in maturity by getting their first paying job. It was a cash job that paid them $5.00 and hour to restore damaged driveways. It was hot, heavy work, but they did it.

Tewolde was killed by a drunk driver about half way through his senior year. Mawi discovers how huge his brother's heart was for people in need. He too expresses his heart about his brother. I am sure this was a difficult time for the family.

An unexpected outcome. He was surprised by his nomination, but was very greatful.

There were several colleges that Mawi was accepted into. Harvard was the main one he wanted to attend. He recieved a letter stating his acceptance into Harvard.

Halieb was a humble and selfless man. He helped anyone he could. He was made known for his selfless works and honored.

Halieb lost is life while riding a bike and was hit by a drunk driver.

After many years of hard work, sleepless nights, and searching deep within himself, he makes it. He accomplishes his goal of graduating Harvard.
