On December 8th, 1928, Noam Chomsky was born in Philadelphia, PA. His mother, Elise, was active in radical politics, and his father was a professor at Hebrew at Gratz college.

In 1949 Norm Chomsky married long-term childhood friend Carol Schatz. Their marriage lasted 49 years when Carol Schatz died from cancer. They had three children together.

In 1955 a professor invited Chomsky to join their ranks. Chomsky worked at the Department of Linguistics & Philosophy for half a century before retiring.

In 2002 Noam Chomsky released a collection of essays analyzing the 9-11 attack on America. Chomsky denounced the horrifying atrocities and called it a "leading terrorist state." Noam Chomsky retired from teaching at MIT in 2005. He has been a visiting professor and lectured at Columbia, UCLA, Princeton, and Cambridge and holds honorary degrees from countless others worldwide.
