    President Bush Responds to the Attacks
    At the time of the attack President Bush was in an elementary classroom getting ready to read to the kindergarteners. In response to the attacks that had happened earlier that day president Bush gave a speech saying that they may have broken our buildings but they didn't break us.
  • National Remembrance and Morning

    National Remembrance and Morning
    After the attacks on the world trade center people started to gather together and morn for the people that they have lost. It almost seemed like people began to stop whatever they were doing and send their support to the people in New York. People put up flags on their porches and cars. Some teams even postponed their games. People went to candlelight viewings and had moments of silence for the deaths. They also donate money to the red cross and made it an official holiday, Patriot Day.

    War on Terror is Declared
    The War on Terror was declared by George W. Bush on September 11, 2001 after the terrorist attack on the United States. The U.S military (along with Great Britain) invaded the Middle Eastern countries of Iraq and Afghanistan. George W. Bush also demanded that Taliban (an Islamic political movement) turn over Osama bin Laden and expel al-Qaeda from Afghanistan.

    After the attacks, people all across America found ways they could assist any way they could. Blood banks got multiple donations and a lot of charities were created to help with the cleanup.

    Search and Rescue/Cleanup at Ground Zero
    Immediately after 9/11, police officers, firefighters, and volunteers came to help search for people who might be trapped under all of the debris, and to also help clean up. Everyone came together in order to help move debris and find survivors as quickly as possible. The total cleanup of the Twin Towers took 8 months and 19 days, and ended it with a ceremony.

    The war in Afghanistan is one of the longest wars in America. Our main goal eliminate the safe base of the al Qaeda, a military group who sheltered chief Osama Bin Laden. Because of that they attacked us on September 11. We are still currently fighting the war.

    USA PATRIOT Act
    The U.S.A PATRIOT ACT is an abbreviation for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001. It was signed by George W. Bush and brought into law in October 26, 2001 to help law enforcements be more effective in investigating potential terrorist attacks.

    The Homeland Security Act was passed on November 25, 2002 to help prevent another terrorist attack.

    War in Iraq

    The Iraq war was also called the Second Persian Gulf War. There were two phases. The first was the United States and Great Britain joined forces and invaded Iraq, which we quickly defeated their military defenses. The second Phase was longer. When the fighting gradually began to go down, the U.S. began to slowly take soldiers out ending in a withdrawal.

    The Hunt for bin Laden
    After the September 11th attacks, Osama bin Laden went into hiding in fear of being captured by the U.S or their allies. Bin Laden's location was unknown for many years, but while he was in hiding, he also sent out video and audio recordings. In August 2010, the C.I.A located a place in Pakistan where Bin Laden could be hiding. On May 1, 2011, the U.S forces hunted down and killed Osama bin Laden on orders from, at the time, president, Barack Obama.
