    At age 18 Bohr enrolled in Copenhagen University with a Major in Physics in 1903. He graduated with a degree in Physics and Mathematics in 1911. in the year 1912 he married Margrethe Nørlund they would later have 6 kids together.

    Atomic Model Breakthrough
    A year after his postdoctoral research with Ernest Rutherford in 1912 they established that atoms are made up of a positively charged nucleus with negatively charge electrons circling it.
  • Appointed Professor of Theoretical Physics at Copenhagen University

  • Bohr's Institute established

    After his appointment as a professor at Copenhagen University Borh continued to work in cramped work spaces. This prompted him to write a letter asking for a better and new facility in 1917. Finally, in 1921 he got his wish and the Bohr's Institute was established.

  • Refugee Relief Program

    In 1933 Bohr established the Danish Committee for the Support of Refugee Intellectual Workers. After Adolf Hitler came into power a number of Bohr's college found themselves out of a job. With very little hope for finding work in their home country in the future he created this to help Jewish scientist out of Germany. They would temperately go to Bohr's institute before finding permanent jobs elsewhere.
