Niels Bohr (10/7/1885 - 11/18/1962)

  • Birth

It was on this date that Niels Bohr was born in Copenhagen Denmark.
  • The University of Copenhagen

This was when Bohr began his studies at the University of Copenhagen, under the guidance of the highly endowed physicist Professor C. Christiansen.
  • Academy of Sciences Gold Medal Awarded

While he was still a student, Niels Bohr used his father's laboratory to conduct an investigation of the surface tension by means of oscillating fluid jets. His work was published in the Transactions of The Royal Society.
  • A Masters in Physics

Niels Bohr completed and received his Masters degree in the field of Physics.
  • Cavendish Laboratory

In the fall of 1911, Bohr traveled to Cambridge to pursue his theoretical studies. As well as following the experimental work being conducted in the laboratory under the guidance of Sir J.J. Thomson.
  • Doctorate in Physics

Niels Bohr received his doctorate in the field of Physics from the University of Copenhagen.
  • The Bohr Model

After publishing his theoretical work on the absorption of alpha rays in the Philosophical Magazine. Bohr went on to study the structure of the atom. Successfully creating and presenting a model of the atom, that after some minor improvements provided by Heisenberg in 1925, still serve as the elucidation of the physical and chemical properties of the elements. https://youtu.be/S1LDJUu4nko
