  • Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA)

    Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA)
    AAA The Agricultural Adjustment Administration was created to help farmers live livable lives. The AAA worked to combat falling prices and maintain a standard of living possible to people during the depression. The AAA was declared unconstitutional in 1937 but then rewritten and never repealed again.
  • Tennesse Valley Authority (TVA)

    Tennesse Valley Authority (TVA)
    TVA The Tennesse Valley Authority was put in place to reguate the Tennesse River Valley. The Valley was in in environmental danger and this act was to help restore it and use its' natural resources. This allowed for the creation of jobs and a lot more energy to go around which helped fight the depression. The TVA is still in place today and is an electric company that is based from the original dams built by this act.
  • Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC)

    Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC)
    HOLC The Home Owners Loan Corporation was created to help homeowners by loaning them money at a low interest. The loans were given to those who couldn't meet mortgage payments. This helped give people homes during the Great Depression. The HOLC is still in effect today and helps people who can't make payments.
  • Securites and Exchange Comission (SEC)

    SEC The Securities and Exchange Comission was created to be the police of the stock market. They watched for illegal practices going on under the table while regulating the good practices. The SEC fought the depression by watching for signs and worked to prevent another incident like Black Tuesday. The SEC is still in working order today and still maintains the stock market.
  • Works Progress Administration (WPA)

    WPA The Works Progress Administration was established to create jobs as fast as possible. The administration put as many as a third of the nations unemlpoyed into whatever jobs were available, and no job was left out. The WPA was battling the depression by creating jobs and generating revenue for the economy. It was ended in 1943 due to many men going to WWII and not needing jobs.
  • National Youth Administration (NYA)

    The National Youth Administration was created to aid young adults and high school students prepare to working full time. This was done by giving part time jobs to students and providing job training for those umemployed and under the age of 25. The NYA helped fight the depression by giving more chances for jobs and training. The program was eventually shut down in 1943 due to Congress being unwilling to fund it anymore.
  • National Labor Relations Board (Wagner Act)

    National Labor Relations Board (Wagner Act)
    Wagner Act The National Labor Relations Board was created under the Wagner Act to fair working conditions and pay. Due to the labor revolution happening within America, this helped maintain peace. The NLRB is still working today and watches over the conditions of working in America.
  • Social Security Administration (SSA)

    The Social Security Administration was created to help people retire and disabled people. The SSA aided in the relief of the depression by making sure people were taken care of after their prime. The SSA is still in effect and still helping the same types of people
  • US Housing Authority (USHA)

    US Housing Authority (USHA)
    The US Housing Authority was created to give loans for public housing. The USHA was very similar to the HOLC as they both allow for people to get loans for housing. This helped fight against the depression for the same reason as the HOLC as well. The USHA was abolished in 1947 due to the incorporation of a another act.
  • Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act (FDC)

    Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act (FDC)
    FDC The Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act was created to make sure that Americans knew what they were consuming. This act was to ensure that Americans were healthy. The FDC fought the depression by helping regulate goods and the health of Americans. The act was never repealed and is still active today.
