    In 50 AD Christianity appeared in the middle east. When Christianity arrives, it spread fast to Egypt, Syria, Greece, Italy, the southern of Europe, and Asia Minor. During the time, the churches were Alexandria, Antioch, and Rome.

    In 1902 oil is discovered in Iran by William K. D'Arcy, an Englishman. The Oil was discovered in the trading amount in the southwest of Iran. However, Iran was the first country in the Persian Gulf to discover oil. This allowed for Iran to not use other countries oil and would not have to pay anymore to receive oil.

    In 1918 once WWI had ended, Britain and France occupy much of the Middle East after the Ottoman Empire had fell. The french and British sent armies to the middle east to seize Iraq, Syria, and Palestine. Syria and Lebanon was under the control of France and British controlled Palestine and Iraq.     In 1945 World War II ended and many countries became independent after the loss of Turkey during WWI. After the countries became independent, the League of Arab States was founded. The League of Arab States consists of 22 countries. The first countries to be in the league were Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan. Within those countries, they created the Arab Parliament. The countries gave up the violence between the members and empowered the League.

    In 1951 Libya receives independence from the hereditary monarchy under King Idris I. The United Nations granted passed a resolution granting Libya independence. Then, their parliament was made, which was chosen by the people as a whole.
  • Oil is discovery in Libya

    Many oil companies was very interested in Libya because Libya was located at the Mediterranean Sea. In 1959 Oil was discovered in Libya. Then the Standard Oil of New Jersey made a big strike that was 100 miles south of the Mediterranean coast. This was a huge breakthrough because Libya had to use Iran's resources, but Libya was limited to them because of political problem.

    Saddam Hussein became president of Iraq. Before Saddam rose to power,he worked for his cousin as a henchman.His cousin was the new Iraqi president and the chairman of the Revolutionary Council.When Saddam rose to Vice-President, he began "purifying" the government.The dissidents were imprisoned, tortured, or executed.Saddam became a dictator,to ensure his control,Saddam ordered the execution of thousands of top ranked soldiers.

    Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin assassinated
    In 1995 Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by Yigal Amir in the back while walking to his car. In 1994, Yitzhak Rabin had receive the nobel peace prize. When Yitzhak Rabin become the prime minister, he conducted negotiations with a cease-fire with Syria. Assassination 0:45-3:31

    On December 13, 2003, Saddam was brought into custody after being found hiding in a small underground bunker near his home land Tikrit. Later in 2006, they found Saddam guilty of murder and was hung. However, Saddam requested that he would be shot but was hung anyways. Saddam 12:18-15:05
