Michael goes to Idaho
At this point in the book, Michael learns that the Elgen, an evil company, has discovered where some of his friends live. Michael's return to Idaho is significant because the Elgen have captured Ostins parents and have burnt Jack's house down. -
The kids figure out how to stop being tracked
Michael and his friends find tracking devices in the arms of both Wade and Jack. In order to get rid of the tracking device, Michael learns that melting the device material is the best option. This event is crucial because the destruction of the device stops the Elgen from tracking their every move. -
Michael must travel to Peru
The "Voice" calls and tells Michael that arrangements have been made for he and his friends to travel to Peru. The reason Michael and his friends are traveling to Peru is because Michael's mother is in the country. The mysterious "Voice" is important because important information is always communicated through the "Voice". Michael looks forward to receiving calls from the "Voice" because the clues are helpful to finding his mother. -
Dr. Hatch takes over
On the Elgen boat the Elgen board of directors tell Dr. Hatch that the Neo-Speices program, that creates electric glows, is being shut down. Dr. Hatch is furious with this decision. The decision to shut down his program will destroy his plan to take over the world. Dr. Hatch convinces the Elgen that this is a good plan. Secretly he does not plan to follow through on shutting down his program. -
The kids get into the compound

Michael saves the day
Michael sacrifices himself to let his friends and mom escape. After being captured his friends blow up the bowls water cooling house located outside the compound which overheats and destroys the bowl. This alows Michael to escape.
