Landed in Ellis Island. Had around $4000 savings. Couldn't come to port for 10 days because baby was sick. Grandma Marie had finished her schooling in Holland but had to start over to learn English.

WWII declared Dec. 8th, 1941. Family had food stamps for sugar and flour. Lucky they were able to raise everything else on the farm even making own soap.

Edgewood in Madison, WI. Mom needed to be home to care for 6 younger siblings.

Dad served in the National Guard the spring and summer before his wedding. He served inactive duty for 5 1/2 years thereafter.

Attended Albert Lea Vocational School--2 years plus many online classes in future years.

Attended 1 year at UST. Also went to some accounting school in Rochester. Also attended Dunwoody for drafting.

Did many classes with books and correspondence through the mail.

Graduated from UST with Education and Math degrees.

Graduated from St. Cloud State with Elementary and Middle School Education degree.

Attended College of St. Benedict and graduated with Elementary Education degree.

Attended Luther College and graduated with Elementary Education degree.

Obtained his Electrician's license from Austin Technical College.
