William Thomson was a coppersmith who lived at 3 George Square, Grenoch, Scotland. He died in 1915 aged 70. His daughter Elizabeth married Thomas Peters. They moved to New Zealand in 1902 when Elizabeth was pregnant with their second child Margaret.

William Bain Walker was born in Happy Valley, Victoria 17 Feb 1858. He married Isabella Sarah Young Clarke on 5 March 1883 at Clifton Hill, Victoria.

Michael Joseph Lynch was born in Tunnach, Tasmania and was one of 6 children. He married Alice Walker in 1897 in Zeehan and worked in the coalmines there. His mother, Margaret Highland was christened in the first Catholic church in Aust, and it's believed that she was the first child to be christened there. Margaret's father - Michael's grandfather - was a 'ticket of leave' man (ex-convict). He died in 1909 aged only 44 from 'miner's disease'.

Alice Maud Walker was orphaned in 1883 aged only eight. She had seven children to her first husband Michael Lynch who died at age 44. She later remarried and had three more children. Her parents were Jemima and Edward.

Charles was the youngest of thirteen children! He married his FIRST COUSIN Kate Pain in 1907, the daughter of his father's sister, Kate Barton.

Allan Walker was born in Eaglehawk, Bendigo, Victoria on 5 November 1893. He served in the AIF - Australian Imperial Force, (1914-1918 war). He married Ethel Kerr on 29 August 1919 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Ethel Maud Louise Kerr was born 15 January 1896 in Gorgie, Edinburgh, Scotland. Her parents were George Kerr, born in Aberdeen, and Mary Ann Fraser, born in Inverness.

Margaret Lynch was born 2 Nov 1898 and died 26 Sept 1987 (aged 88). Margaret trained as a nurse in Sydney and spent most of her working life in that capacity. Her parents were Michael Joseph Lynch and Alice Walker. Michael worked in the coal mines of Zeehan, Tasmania and died from 'miners' disease. Margaret had two children: Grandpa Ian Stewart, and uncle Brian. Ian's father was Harvey Stewart from Sydney, but there is uncertainty of his identity as no actual documents exist.

Margaret Peters was born in Masterton on 29 July 1902. She was one of six daughters (at one time there were six girls under the age of 12!) Her parents were Tom and Elizabeth, who came to New Zealand from Grenoch, near Glasgow, Scotland in 1902. Elizabeth was pregnant with Margaret (her second child) when they emigrated. Margaret had a baby - Inez (Grandma) - whom she adopted out before marrying George Snell in 1926. They had three children (Jack, Marie and Peter Snell).

Great Great Grandparents Elizabeth and Thomas moved from Grenoch, Scotland when Elizabeth was pregnant with their second child Margaret.

Geoffrey Barton was born 15 July 1920 and died in August 2002 aged 82. He served 12 years in the Royal Air Force (UK), joining as an apprentice at the age of 17. Geoffrey was one of seven children and had a twin brother Christopher who also joined the RAF.

Inez Peters as born in Napier on the 20th of may, 1923. Her real father is unknown. She was adopted as a baby by Lydia and George Boxall and grew up in Dannevirke, New Zealand. She had a brother Fred Boxall (we are not sure if he was also adopted). She died of breast cancer in 1982 at the age of 59.

Ian Stewart was born 11 March 1924 in Tasmania. He grew up in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Belle was born 29 November in Carlton, Melbourne. She married Geoffrey Barton in 1966 and had Christine in 1967 (at the age of 39). Belle worked in the war service homes office in Melbourne. She had epilepsy from the age of 16 which caused her to have grand mal fits on a regular basis. As a result she was unable to drive, but was otherwise a very independent woman.

In 1929 Margaret moved from Tasmania to the Manawatu region of New Zealand to be nearer to one of her brothers, Richard.

Grandpa Geoffrey moved to Melbourne at the age of 30. People who emigrated from England to Australia were called ‘Ten Pound Poms’, as the fare was only ten pounds at that time. He and his twin brother served in the Royal Air Force since the age of 17. After serving 12 years they both emigrated from England – my Grandpa to Australia and his twin brother to South Africa.

My dad was born on the 17th of August 1962. Dad was born and grew up in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

My mum was born in Melbourne on the 12th of December. She lived in both Melbourne and Sydney before moving to NZ.
