    Bobby McMullen went through a lot but no matter what he kept pushing himself. One of his biggest problems that started it all was when he was diagnosed with diabetes. Bobby was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 12 years old, in 1976. In the middle of his first year he became blind. He then went through dialysis two times, broken almost every bone, has had kidney failure, and open heart surgery. If Bobby would have never had any of those problems he wouldn't be where he is today.

  • Dialysis

    Took 2 years for dialysis.
    He was on dialysid two times.

  • Inside Fail

    Bobby's kidney began to fail.
    His pancreas also began to fail.
  • Surgery

    He had a transplant of his kidney and pancreas.
    His body rejected the new kidney and pancres.
  • Finished dialysis

    Bobby finally finished dialysis.
    He said it was amazing to not be on dialysis anymore.
  • Bike Races

    He completed 23 bike races in one season.
    Bobby competed two 12-hour races and nine cross country races.

    He raced in the Bike race across America.
    The race was 3,000 miles.

    Bobby McMullen was blind and had a lot of illnesses, but this didn’t stop him. Bobby joined the U.S. disabled ski team and was successful. His one love though is biking and he found this out when was in an Ironman race. Since he couldn’t see he used a guide. It wasn’t the awards to him, it was about him and his bike. Bobby fell and got hurt and people along the way thought he couldn’t do it. He proved them wrong. If you see a man biking, it could be Bobby and he will inspire you!

    He felt so lucky to have somebody love him so much.
