Martha's first husband was Daniel Parke Custis. he was a wealthy plantation owner. he was 20 year olds when he married Martha. Their marrage was a short marriage.

Martha had her first child. it was a girl and her name was Martha Parke Custis. She is the oldest of Martha's kids and Martha couldn't have been happier to have a little girl.

On 1757 Daniel Custis died leaving Martha a widow with two children to take care of, John Parke and Martha. She had a hard time raising her two kids and keeping up wiht all the jobs around the house. She grieved for a while but soon married again.

Martha gets remarried to a young colonel in the militia,George Washinton. Martha moves to Mont Veron with Georage and takes her two children with her.

Martha and her two kids move to mt. Vernon to live with George. The children were not George's but he treat them like it. The children even called them their father.

George becomes in chaarge of the army during the war. He had ot leave the kids and Martha to fight and defend the country. Martha didn't want George to leave but hse knew it was right and that the country needed him.

Martha accompanied Georage during the war, 1777-1778. She went to Valley Forge, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. She helped are the camps, and doing all she could to support the war.

Martha and Daniel Parke Custis's son died in the Revolutionary War of 'camp fever" . When John died Georage and Martha adopted Eleanor Parke Custis and George Washington Parke Custis.

Martha and her grandchildren to New York, the capital of the United States at the time. They headed to New York for Georgae's presidency. They then moved to Philadelphia the new capital till the end of his presidency.
