  • Garvey and the UNIA launched the Black Star Line

  • The UNIA had 4 million members and held their own International Convention in Madison Square Garden

  • Garvey and three other UNIA officials were charged with mail fraud

  • Sentenced to prison for 5 years

  • Garvey was released from prison and deported back to Jamaica

  • MArcus Garvey died in London due to many strokes

  • Garvey's remains were taken back to Jamaica and he was proclaimed as Jamaica's first national hero and re-interred him at a shrine in Nartional Heroes Park
