    Napoleon's army invaded Russia to remove the threat of Russia invasion of Poland. The invasion began on June 24 1812. The Russia army was able to hold of Napoleon's forces. Napoelon was forced to retreat back to Paris on December 12 1812.

    The Russo-Japanese is concerded to be the first great war in the 20th Century. The Russians wanted a water port on the pacific ocean, for their navy. Negotiations between Russia and Japan we no good. Japan chose war to gain dominance in Korea. After a year and a half of fighting, the Japanese military attained victory over the Russian forces. The victory for Japan would transform the balance of power in East Aisa

    On July 28 1914, the Russians attacked Germany but was later forced back. The Russia army was succesful in the fight against the Austro-Hungarian forces. The Russian Empire collapsed in March 1917 and they left the war after the October Revolution later that year. This war resulted in the collaspse of the Rusian Empire. The war ended November 11 1918.

    On June 1941 the European Axis forces lanched an invasion on the Soviet Union. Then the Soviet Union later invaded Germany and its allies. The war in Europe ended when the Soviet Union and Polish captured Berlin, German surrendered on May 8th 1945. After the war was over, the United States and the Soviet Union became rival superpowers. This was also the beginning of the Cold War.

    The Cold War was the war were no fighting happened. The two superpower coutries the Soviet Union and the Untied States competed to see who was the best nation in the world. Both nations had nuclear weapons and both sides waited to see who would strike first. This went on for 46 years until the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.

    Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
    This was a nine-year war during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the Afghan Mujahideen guerrilla movement. The mujahideen got support from many countries like the U.S. and UK. This war was almost pointless. Nothing really happened. The war ended with the Soviet Union pulling their troops on February 15, 1989. This war is referred as the "Soviet Union's Vietnam War".

    First war with Chechnya
    The war was between the Russian Federation and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. Russian forces attempted to seize control the the Mountainous area of Checnya. The Chechen forces were able to hold the Russians off for a while, but Russia had too much manpower and firepower. They demoralized the Chechen forces and the Russian governent declared a ceasefire in 1996 and signed a peace treaty a year later.

    The Russian entered Chechnya because the Islamic International Peacekeeping Bridge. The Russian forces were able to restore order in the counrty and maintain control over the terriotry in May 2000.
  • Russia's war with Georgia

    Russia's war with Georgia
    This war was a short one between Georgia and Russia and South Ossetia. The Russia were able to defend South Ossetia from Georgia. Georgia was forced to retreat after only a few days of fighting. The countries signed a ceasefire on August 16, 2008.
