    Macbeth and Banquo discuss the witches prophecies. Macbeth is finally able to get Banquo to leave him to go to bed. Macbeth the imagines a dagger appearing in front of him leading him to Duncan's chambers. Macbeth then hears the bell from Lady Macbeth which indicates it is time.

    Macbeth does the deed of killing King Duncan. He then stumbles through the castle to meet up with Lady Macbeth.

    Macbeth brings the daggers to Lady Macbeth who is curious as to why he brought them instead of following the plan. What Macbeth was supposed to do was leave them by the guards to frame them. This means Lady Macbeth has to take them back down and cover the guards with blood after she had drugged them.

    Macbeth claim to have heard somebody saying "Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep". He feels very guilty for the murder after Duncan had just bestowed such honor upon him.

    The porter answers the door introducing Macduff and Lennox.
    The porter in the story is a comic relief as he drunkenly goes to open the door for Macbeth and Lennox. Once they come into the castle they are greeted by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth who have washed off the blood and changed into sleeping clothes to make it seem like they have been asleep instead of killing Duncan. Macduff then asks about the king.

    Macduff had said the King wanted to be woke early so he goes down to wake him. to his surprise the king is murdered and he rushes up to tell everyone else. The shocked Lennox and pretend shocked Macbeth go down to check and Macbeth claims to have killed the servants who are bloodied and with the dagger out of rage.

    Macduff tells Lady Macbeth the news and she faints, but he is still very weary of Macbeth. He does not understand why he would kill the servants with such haste. He is very suspicious of what Macbeth's story is.

    The two sons of Duncan leave the country.

    The two sons of Duncan leave the country.
    Duncan's sons Malcolm and Donalbain have decided to run from the country to protect themselves from being killed next. This raises suspicions in their direction, taking it off Macbeth.
