    On June 9th 1660, Maria Theresa and Louis XIV were married at the church of saint jean the Baptist in Saint- Jean- de-Luz. Louis XIV is Maria's cousin and the marriage was formed to end the long war between Spain and France.

    On November 1st 1661, Louis XIV and Maria had their first born Grand Dauphin. Dauphin was the first born to the heir of King Louis XIV and Maria Theresa.

  • France Invades the Dutch

    In 1672 Louis XIV led an army into the Dutch Netherlands in regards to claiming more land. This lead to failure as the Dutch saved their country by opening dikes and flooding the country side

    On June 1st, 1673, Louise Fancoise de Bourbon, Duchess of Bourbon was born. She was the eldest surviving daughter of Louis XIV, as she died on June 16, 1743.

    Fancoise Marie de Bourbon was the youngest daughter from the heir of Louis XIV. She was born on May 4th, 1677.
  • Edict of Nantes Stipped of Power

    In 1685 Louis XIV denied the power of the Edict of Nantes which protected the religious freedom of Huguenots. By Defying the power of the Catholics and the Huguenots, Louis was destroying religious tolerance in France, and becoming more powerful. Louis was able to gain more power as he created an image of an absolute monarch for himself.

    On August 18, 1692, Louis Henri I, Prince of Conde was born from the heir of Louis XIV. Louis Henri I served as prime minister until his death in 1740.
  • Death of Brother

    Death of Brother
    In 1701 Louis XIV's younger brother Philippe the first, who was the duke of New Orleans died at age 60.
  • Signing of the Treaty of Utrecht

    The treaty of Utrecht was signed in 1714 agreeing that Louis’ grandson, Philip of Anjou, would be allowed to remain king of Spain if the thrones of France and Spain would not unite in power
