On September 1 ,1939 Germany invaded Poland. Germany had 1.5 million troops which inavded Poland all along its border and Poland's army was defeated in just weeks of the invasion. Hitler had been planing this attack since March that year ever since the Polish occupied the remainder of Czechoslovakia. Since Hitler invaded Poland, Britain and France, both allies of the overrun nation declare war on Germany. On this day, the Prime Minister at the time, Prime Minister Chamberlain, announced to the British that a war had started between their country and Germany. World War II begun. With Paris fallen and the German conquest of France reaching its conclusion, the French government wanted and armistice that would end all of the fighting with Germany. It is signed this day, and over two thirds of France is occupied by Germans. Also, the french army could not exist any more. Mussolini suprised everyone when he invaded Greece and the Greeks achieved in pushingthe Italian invaders into Albania. The axis powers spent the next three months fighting. In June 22, 1941 the Germans launched an attack on Russia named Operation Barbarossa, the largest military attack of World War Two. The attack was a surprise for the Russians. The final solution, that was to kill every single jew begins but nobody finds out about it. The only people who know about it are the Nazis and the Jews. Nazis are taking the Jews to extermination camps or killing them right there. They started taking them to the ghettos at first, and then transferred everyone to the camps later on. Himmler, Heinrich. The world's first atomic bomb B-29 was used this day, in Hiroshima, Japan from the US. It completely destroyed almost all of the city, killed thousands of people, and killed many more later because of the radiation the bomb had. The US did this so that Japan would surrender. On August 9, the US dropped a plutonium bomb on Nagasaki. It killed less people than the one in Hiroshima but still thousands died and thousands were diseased or left without a home.
