    The expedition establishes a camp just upstream from St. Louis where Louis and Clark are recruiting men in preperation of the expedition. Louis and clark attended ceremonies that transfered the ownership of the Louisiana Territory to England. Louis started off on the expedition from St. Louis Louisiana

    Sergeant Charles Floyd died of a burst appendix. the hill which he was burried was named Floyd's Bluff.

    The expedition reached the village of the Mandans. The members of the expedition then built Fort Mandan accross the river from the village.

    Sacagawea's baby, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, was born Feb.11,1805. He was born in what is known today as North Dakota.

    The expedition encountered an enourmouse grizzly bear that chased the men into the river. It took almost 15 shots to kill the great bear.

    When spring of 1805 brought good weather, it also brought high waters. The adventure corps was then able to continue their adventure.

    In mid August, the adventure corps entered the Lemhi Valley which is located in present day Idaho. They intended to explore the Salmon River by canoe but decided on a safer land route

    Lewis and Clark reach a Shoshone village where Lewis tries to negotiate with them for some horses. One of the mens Shoshonian wife Sacagawea translates for them and finds out that the chief is her brother.

    When the corps was still in the process of building their fort, Clastop leader Coboway visited the expedition and traded with them. This tribe gave them valuable advice on how to withstand the winter weather.

    Away from home, the expeditioners celebrate christmas at Fort Clatsop. this Fort was named after a nearby Indian tribe.
