Comandante Marcos, Born: June 19, 1957. Comandante grew up wanting to be in the military. Also, wanting to fight for freedom.

In 1977 Marcos stepped down from being a rebel leader. Which in their case was bad. Marcos was a great leader.

Education: National Autonomous University of Mexico. Marcos went to school for 4 years from 1977-1981. He loved going to school and learning about how to be in the military.

1983 the army (Zapatista National Liberation Army) Marcos joined is founded. Then he joined a year later. He is one of the first because no one wanted to attend until he did.

Marcos led his army in 1994. He was a rebel leader. A good leader.

Subcomandante Marcos led an armed uprising in 1994. He considered he wanted to fight. Also Marcos wanted to stay strong for his country.

Days after New Years Day 1994, Marcos was seen in public for the first time in months. Marcos normally has his mask on. One day after New Years Day he was seen without it in public too, unusual.

He died of ambush. He died May 25, 2014. He was 57 when he died.
