Went to Penn State to study theater. Decided I didn't like theater, wanted to get out and see the world. Dropped out, jumped in the back of a VW van and took off for California. -
Lived in a commune for a few months; worked in a trailer factory. Hitchhiked up a down the West Coast, went to a few rock festivals.

Went to visit my mom, who was spending a year in Spain. Planned to go back to college in Sept., 1971. Got a job teaching Engligh at Academia Cots. Stayed there a year.

Learned craft of daily newspapering. Did good work. As only photog covering news and sports, worked 60-70 hours a week and loved it. After one year I quit because I hated working for a boss who was an alcoholic, wa lazy and didn't care about the paper. Obviously I was rash and immature.

While I was looking for a newspaper job, worked part-time for a photo studio and for a Christian TV statin in Kittanning, Pa.

Cumberlink<br>Came to The Sentinel as chief photographer, then became photo editor, city editor, managing editor, and Internet editor. Because of my efforts, The Sentinel was the first daily newspaper in Pa. on the Web.
