SANAA was founded in 1995 by the architect and Ryue Nishizawa, a former employee at Toyo Ito and Associates. The achitecture study is established at Tokio but they have many projects built all arround the world.

Given by The School of Architecture at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and the Asia-Pacific Center for Architecture, in cooperation with the Architects Regional Council Asia. This recognition was given to her for her work at Saishunkan Seiyaku Women's Dormitory.
