Henri creates a branch of mathematics. This branch is know as qualitive theory of differential equations. It was in this field where he showed that ir would be possible to collect the most pertinent information about the behavior of a family of solutions without actually solving the equation. He then further proved this by successfully using it in problems involving celestial mechanics and mathematical physics.
