When Joseph hit puberty, he couldn't reach high notes anymore. Because of this, he was let go from his job. After this, he spent a night on a park bench, before friends and family took him in. He spent 10 years as a Freelance Musician.

Joseph Haydn becomes Kapellmeister (music director) for Count Karl von Morzin. The Count had to dismiss his musical establishment shortly after, because he ran out of money.

Quickly after Joseph was fired by the Count, he became an assistant to the Kapellmeister for the Eszterházy Family. This family was one of the richest and most important in Austria.
