    attended Oberlin College in Ohio to receive his bachelor's degree to major in Mathematics with honors reading in mathematical philosophy and attended Harvard University to receive his Ph.D. in Philosophy. this is where he did his dissertation on Whitehead and Russell’s Principia Mathematica.

    Quine returned to Harvard collage to take up his junior fellowship. he first book was published A System of Logistics. Between this time to the time he started his service Quine's research was mainly on logic although always with a philosophical motivation.
