On January 17, 1962 a comedian, actor, impressionist, screen writer, film producer and father was born. James Eugene Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada as the youngest of four children. His family background is french-canadian,scottish and irish ancestrey. -

Jim begins getting his spark
At the age of ten, Jim starts devloping his energetic slapstick comedy. At school Jim was allowed to have a few minutes at the end of each day to do a stand up routine for his classmates, in return Jim had to be quiet during the body of the day. Jim was to eager to show off his comedy he even sent his resume to ''The Carol Burnett Show'' while hes was still in juinor high. -
Tragic turn for the worst
While Jim still attending school at the age of fourteen, his family came into major financial problems. So they were forced to move out of their home in Newmarket, and move to Scarbrough ( aToronto suburb). -
Trying to recover
The family all got jobs at the Titan Wheels Factory, Security and Janitorial were the positions the family took, Jim had to work 8 hour shifts after school as a janitor at the factory. -
The leave their source of labour
After a while of working at the factoey the family make a decision and desert the factory and live out of a camper van. -
Jim begins practicing
Once his family got back on their feet, Jim began going to a comedy clubs, for example Yuk Yuk's in Toronto. The clubs became his traning ground for years to come. -
Jim passion becomes a reality
Soon after Jim got a feel for comedy, he decided that he wanted to pursue as a career so Jim dropped out of high school and began improving his impersonantions (including Michael Landon and James Steward). -
Jim takes a leap of faith
In 1979 Jim decides that he needed a change of scenery and he decided to move to Los Angelos and continue his comedic career their. -
Jim finds work
Jim managed to get a regular gig at a comedy store while living in Los Angelos -
A star in the process
As Jim did his gig in the comedy store he was able to impress the Comedy veteran Rodney Dangerfield, enough to get him to sign Jim up as a opening act for him, for an entire season. -
Jim meets the mother of his child
During the period of opening gigs for the veteran, he met and married waitress Melissa Wormer and had Jim\s only child (Jane). Jim would sadly divorce her in the future and re marry to Lauren Holly. -
Jim begins expanding
Now that Jim has done stand up for a while now he begins searching for where else he can present his talent, he soon becomes an amateur cartoonist in the show Duck Factory. But the show quickly fell flat, so Jim got back up with more confidence then ever and began testing his luck in the acting field. -
The actor is born
Now Jim begins getting some roles in films such as Once Bitten (1985), Peggy Got Sue Married (1986) and Earth Girls are Easy (1988). Damon Wayans impressed with Jim's crazy alien performance in Earth Girls are Easy, talked with his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans who was in the process of making a sketch comedy show In Living Colour (1990). To sign Jim up as one of the cast, and quicky enough Jim got on the show and made his mark with his wacky characters (Fire Marshal Bill). -
Jim starts becoming a big deal
From a TV goofball to a celeberity happened in just a year, he started in 1994 with Ace Ventura Pet Detective. A film that really highlighted Jim's wacky personality. Then came out with The Mask (1994) a film about a hero who recieves un-ending power through a mask -
Big Money
In December of 1994 Jim realeased his un-forgetable film Dumb and Dumber (1994) with his co star Jeff Daniels and which earned him his first multi-million payday. -
A Legend
Jim would now make hillarious films all throught the rest of the 1990's up to 2013, such as Batman Forever (1995), The Cable Guy (1996), Me Myself and Irene (2000), Bruce Almighty (2003) and many more. -
Jim hosts the Golden Globes
Jim Carrey spoke as the host of the Golden Globes this year, it was surprising to some because Jim hasn't made a big public apperance since his ex girlfriend passed away in late september of 2015.
