A Family Friend invites Jane to go to Africa, and while she was there, Jane´s friends tried to convince her to contact a famous paleontologist, Louis Leakey. Later, Leakey helped her getting a PhD from the university of Cambridge.

It took 2 years for Jane to get used to the chimps´ way of life. She passed these 2 years taking notes and imitating the chimps´s moves, to interact with them in the future. One of the very important observations taken by Jane is that chimps are omnivorous, and not vegeterian.

Jane started to set up the camp at Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania.
